Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. What is the GCC Developers' Summit?

A. The GCC and GNU Toolchain developers Summit is a vendor neutral venue for the developers of free compiler technology and associated tools. The objective of the Summit is to promote open cooperation and to improve communications.

Q. Is there an announcement mailing list?

A. We recommend that you subscribe to the GCC Summit Announcement mailing list. Traffic will be very low but all the critical announcements will be made there. Archives are also available.

Q. I'm coming alone and would like to share the cost of hotel, is there any way to help coordinate this?

A. Yes, you can email info AT gccsummit.org and we'll help you find some other people in the same situation. Sharing is a great way to keep costs low.

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Our goal is to keep the Summit accessable to all. These rates all include a 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST). Full time student prices are only 161.50CAD, and full non-students only 320.00CAD.

Those presenting papers are not charged the registration fee.

Q. I am having difficulty completing my registration, who can I talk to?

A. You can send an email to info AT gccsummit.org and they will be able to help you out.

Q. What happens if I need to cancel my registration?

A. If it is before May 15th we can give a refund. After May 15th we have already printed all of our materials and you will need to find someone to transfer your registration to.

Q. I am considering bringing my non-technical spouse, is there much for them to do?

A. It is our custom to issue guest passes to visiting spouses if they're only dropping in to see you while you're at the event. The GCC Developers' Summit is right in the heart of the Ottawa tourist area with many museums, galleries, and other organized tours and ample shopping and dining within several minutes walk.

Q. What is the legal drinking age in Canada?

A. In Ontario (the provice that Ottawa is in) the legal drinking age is 19. In Quebec (located across the bridge) the legal drinking age is 18.
